I figured I might as well put something that I wrote up here. Yaaay!
The 'heavens' had turned to wail on this dreary day; its sky howling and crying as if it had lost its first child and raging with lightning to strike back at the murderer. Leaves and branches had been tussled about in the area of the village, throwing themselves into the sides of the poorly built buildings to frighten some of the younger children that may linger inside. The rain had pelted the earth like the futuristic guns of war, hail soon following to act as the stones of an earlier time. Even the color of the sky was wrong, the dark olive shade in the clouds gave off the aura that everything was hell-bent. Yet in all the chaos that had spurn from Mother Nature wrath and fury, a lone note pierced through the air like a divine arrow. At first, it was unheard but it soon gained its strength grew to crescendo through the sky.
"Again the Lord of light and life
Awakes the kindling ray,
Unseals the eyelids of the morn,
And pours increasing day."
The voice was masculine, though it was not at all deep as it was loud though it resounded with confidence and youthful vitality as a Sunday Church bell. As the rain began to still, some of the citizens of the small village Stone Gate began to look out their custom-made windows. Awe had began to gleam in the eyes of the watchers as they watched the singer walk through the single road that ran through the Stone Gate. A single, tiny woman came out of her safe haven to listen to the full impact of the song and see the man that was striding so gracefully through the rain. She had noticed, with her one child clinging on her leg, that there was something protruding from his back.
"Let Thy sunshine guide by day;
Send at eve the starry ray
Through the watches of the night,
Be Thou, Lord, their shining Light."
It was a set of very fine wings, feathered with the whitest and the brightest of eagle wings tipped in liquid gold. Glorious, magnificent, and completely dry; the rain and mud had not even touched a single feather. Her breath was caught in her throat as she placed her hand on her chest, laughing as she regained her breathing. Then she clutched her son and watched the majestic Angel. His face clean-shaven, along with every part of his body that was exposed, which was everything. His only carry-on was a long, gold staff with jingling bangles that rattled with his hymn from the Lord. Each muscle was chiseled to the highest perfection for the Lord's standards and his was brushed with the purest of gold, which only caused by spending to much time in the Heavenly sun. He stood at least 5'8 in height and he strode down to the ends of the roads singing as the storm came to a complete stop and the sun slipped out of its clouded blanket. And as the sun began to caress the man's face and strawberry blonde hair, he turned to look at her.
“Thus, as hour by hour rolls by,
Watch them with Thy sleepless eye:
Guide with Thine almighty hand
Safe unto the haven land.”
His eyes were of the brightest sea-green color, and like his wings, were flecked golden specks. Their radiating gleam pierced through the poor woman's heart to cause her to kneel with her innocent little boy, whom she commanded to kneel by her side. The Angel smiled gratefully, seeing that this village had faith in the Father and turned directly toward the widow.
“ It is good that thou knows of the all mighty Lord! I, Gabriel of the Horn, will tell thy Father about your faith and you shall have a place in his Kingdom!” he spoke boldly, yet his voice was to the extremest sincerity. The woman smiled, beginning to cry and thank him, even when he turned away to walk out into the forest path to grin in satisfaction. “ Farewell, Miss Galileo, and blessed be with a perfect and shining day!”
